Now , my friend asked me to try to fix his computer , which is encountering the Blue Screen of Death. I have done this before , but , usually either deleting an old driver , system restoring , or formatting. But , the thing is , he dosen’t want to formatt. Now , if everything goes well , I can get the data in safe mode , but , if windows is FUBAR , and I cannot even get into safe mode , then , I was thinking about setting the harddrive as a slave on his other computer…thing is , I don’t think he has a jumper.
Now the jumper config , I can look at the hard drive and then google it , but the jumper itself…does anyone know where to get a set?
Thanks,

If the puter wont go into safe mode then the hard drive is cactus.
Buy a new hard drive and install it. You may need tech help here.
Load xp on it and get it going etc.
after that plug the old hard drive in as an extra drive and it is most likely that the computer will see it. In that case you can copy your files over.
Format the drive and you can then leave it there and store downloads on it.
When hard drives fail, they can fail in they wont boot up, but still work as an extra drive.
you can google jumper and hardive stuff. Go to the hard drive manufacturers website.
